Trans Nzoia County government has launched an audit of the staff academic qualifications in an effort geared towards reviewing its organizational structure.
The exercise has left the county employees in apprehension as reports indicate the exercise may also among other objectives be geared towards weeding out those with fake academic certificates.
Governance Senior Administrator Phoebe Bichunju however insists the main goal of the audit is to march employee skills with the tasks they perform.
She says this will enhance service delivery and ensure residents get value for the public funds spend, as they will be in a position to access quality services.
The one-week exercise which kicked off on Thursday is being overseen by the Department of Public Service Management with the directorate of Human Resource Management taking a lead role.
Director Human Resource Management Imeldah Agoi echoed Bichunju’s words sounding that by the end of the exercise, services delivered by the county employees will match their skills and knowledge.
She added that an approved organization structure will among other things guide the county government on how to deal with whole issue of recruitment and wage bill.
During the screening exercise, employees are required to avail their original and copies of national identification cards, academic and professional certificates, first letter of appointment and latest letter of appointment in the current grades.
