Amagoro acting chief Joel Omachar in Busia County has issued a stern warning to parents, whose children are fond of roaming in the evenings instead of helping them with house chores.
Addressing mourners during the burial service of Rev. Evelyn Amuruon, the wife to Maranatha Amagoro Church Bishop Moses Onyapidi at Amagoro Polytechnic, Omachar said youths have taken the law in their own hands by roaming in late hours, which is becoming unbearable.
“It will not be business as usual for these youths. They will be arrested and locked in police cells. Their parents will pay for their release for using state resources,” the administrator said.
Omachar also raised concerns over the increase in defilement cases in his location, especially among school children with married men involved in such macabre acts.
” Married men who lure girls, their children’s’ age mates into premature sex should know that their days are numbered. If such beasts admire uniforms of young girls, they should buy school uniforms for their wives,” the chief said, adding that incest cases have also increased tremendously.
Omachar urged residents from his location to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA), which transitioned from the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
For those who can’t register with SHA, the chief urged them to seek similar services at Kocholia Sub County Hospital or consult the Community Health Volunteers within their areas of jurisdiction.
With schools still in recess until early January, Omachar urged parents to take extra care of their children to get rid of incidents, which may ruin their future careers.
“Parents should reciprocate the efforts teachers and Board of Managements have put in nurturing their children during school time,” he noted, which is no mean achievement.
