Lukolis FC who emerged FKF Teso South Sub Branch Zone B champions with unbeaten record will strive to maintain a clean sheet when they feature in a mini-league on Saturday January, 15th, 2022 to determine the sub branch champions.
Otimong Primary School will host the event that will be graced by Busia Governor, Sospeter Ojaamong among other invited guests and the sports fraternity.
Zone A champions Obucuun FC and runners-up Chakol will join Lukolis and runners-up, Machakusi for the mini-league.
FKF Teso South Branch Secretary, Sammy Omulepu Barasa said the first match will pit runners-up Chakol and Machakusi to determine the second runners and fourth placed team.
He said the zonal champions Lukolis and Obucuun will battle it out to determine the sub branch champions, adding that all the four teams have qualified to play in the branch league.
Lukolis completed the nine-team Zone B league with 49 points, winning 15 matches and drawing one while Machakusi were a distant second with 38 points.
Obucuun topped Zone A with 49 points with four draws, three losses and 15 wins. Runners-up Chakol finished with 44 points.
In the countdown to the mini-league, Lukolis played three friendly matches. They travelled to Malaba Stadium where they beat Western Regional League side Malaba Giants 1-0 with Emmanuel Osoro netting the lone goal in the 88th minute.
In the second match played at the same venue, Lukolis trounced another Western Regional side Boca Junior 3-0.
On Sunday, Lukolis travelled to Otimong Primary School to have a feel of the ground ahead of the mini-league where they beat Otimong FC 2-0 with Kevin Papai and Salim Omedo accounting for the goals.
Lukolis Team Manager, Fidelis Opeto alias Koffi said they are looking beyond the mini-league in pursuit for excellence, noting that the team’s fairy-tale which saw them end the season with an unbeaten record could be attributed to discipline and practice.
“I have the ambition to have the team play in the Kenya Premier League. We shall beef up the team as we progress to the next level,” he said, and urged club fans to be patient, supportive, and pray for them, and the team will go far.
