Agriculture CS commits to work with KTDA for the benefit of farmers

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mithika Linturi has assured tea farmers that the government is putting in place necessary measures to improve their output and earnings.

Speaking on Tuesday at Kilimo house during a consultative meeting with the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Board of Directors, Linturi assured the directors that the ministry is committed to work with them for the benefit of farmers and the country at large.

Linturi explained that the ministry has already rolled up plans to improve the tea sector productivity by instituting several measures including providing fertilizer subsidy to farmers, establishment of orthodox tea lines and value addition common user facilities.

Crops Development Principal Secretary (PS) Philip Kello Harsama, the KTDA Board of Directors led by MD Wilson Muthaura and Chairman David Muni Ichoho together with other top officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development were present during the meeting.

Linturi also held another meeting with representatives from the Council of Governors (CoG) where he said that the ministry encourages partnerships with CoG so as to ensure every household in Kenya has food in abundance.

“All other stakeholders are invited so that we can achieve this promise,” said the CS.
