The 220 housing units constructed to the tune of about Sh536 million under the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP) are near completion in Milimani estate, Vihiga County.
The County Director of Housing (CDH) Teresia Ooko has said the contractor has been paid Sh343 million for the 76 percent of the work progress and that the project is expected to be completed by August this year.
Speaking during the County Development Implementation Management Committee (CDIMC) meeting, the CDH stated that contractor has given an assurance that the works would be done within the stipulated timelines.
Ms. Ooko explained that since the start of project in September 2023, hundreds of the locals have been employed as unskilled and skilled workers, hence boosting the local economy.
The Director stated that the units will be costing Sh1 million, Sh2 million and Sh3 million for one, two and three bedrooms respectively.
To acquire a unit, she said, one has to apply on Boma yangu website or dial *832# and follow instructions to register.
The CDIMC members made a site visit where they were able to witness the works.
