An Administration police Sergeant was shot dead by a junior officer at Maralal police camp in Samburu County under mysterious circumstances.
Samburu county police commander Karanja Muiruri confirmed that the AP constable shot the unarmed sergeant three times in the chest Saturday at the Administration Police camp in Maralal town.
“There is a junior officer who has killed a senior sergeant who is his boss. We have launched investigations into the incident. We have already disarmed the suspect and arrested him. He is currently in the cell,” he said.
The body has been taken to Samburu county referral hospital mortuary.
Shocked residents led by nominated area MCA Asha Mohammed have condemned the incident.
“We heard gunfire from the police camp, and came to find out what had happened. We found a junior officer had killed his boss. We condemn such incidents. If seniors have a problem with their juniors, it ought to be looked into,” Mohammed said.
A local Pastor Loise Teresia has called upon residents to pray for the country for God to prevent such incidents from recurring.
The police commander declined to release the names of the victim and perpetrator saying they are yet to inform their families.
