The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Archbishop, the Most Rev. Dr. Jackson Ole Sapit, has called for a peaceful transition of leadership ahead of the retirement of Bishop Joseph Kagunda of Mt Kenya West Diocese.
Speaking at Kagongo ACK Church in Chinga, Othaya Nyeri County, Sapit said in the next one year, the Bishop who is now heading Mt Kenya West Diocese, is expected to retire from the helm of the church leadership after serving the church for three decades.
He said the Church is deliberating on ensuring a peaceful transition when Bishop Kagunda retires and assured Christians that there will be no interference with whoever the parishioners will elect.
“We will all agree and accept whoever the parishioners from the region decide to elect,’’ the Archbishop assured.
He also stated that the government should ensure the county achieves political, social and economic stability, while guaranteeing that Kenya remained a safe place for every person to live.
Ole Sapit added that Kenyans are living in difficult times, especially now that most parents are taking back their children to school, but said that what is paramount for the country is peace and stability for all including the children.
The Church was also witnessing chaos and conflict that saw congregants disagree several times about the church leadership.
