Two people died on the spot Tuesday evening after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned and rolled into a ditch severally at Kisaju area in Isinya along the Nairobi-Namanga highway.
The grisly road accident occurred at around 5:30pm and involved a public service vehicle and two Lorries.
According to eye-witnesses, the Matatu which was travelling from Isinya to Kitengela town rammed into a stalled Lorry on the highway and lost control before hitting another lorry travelling in the opposite direction.
One woman and a man lost their lives on the spot with three other passengers who sustained serious injuries being rushed to hospital by good Samaritans.
Isinya Sub-County Police Commander, Kinyua Mugambi confirmed the accident and urged motorists to exercise extra caution on the roads, adding that the accident could have been avoided if the matatu driver was keen.
“The lorry which had stalled on the road had put up a sign and left leaves and a Tyre on the road to warn other motorists, but the matatu driver drove over the warning signs ramming into the stalled vehicle,” said Mugambi.
He urged motorists to avoid speeding and called on all passengers to ensure that they wear seat belts as they help save lives.
The bodies of deceased persons were later taken by police to the Kajiado County Referral Hospital mortuary.
