Two government drivers died in a fatal road accident on Tuesday, along the Kapenguria-Lodwar Highway after a motorcycle they were riding on collided head on with a motor vehicle near Chepkorniso area at Orusho corner.
Confirming the incident, West Pokot County Police Commander Jackson Tumwet said the morning accident involved a motor vehicle registration number KCF 095 T Nissan Wingroad and a motorcycle with registration number KMEP 757L.
The driver of the motor vehicle is said to have been overtaking a lorry at a sharp bend yellow line when he collided head on with the oncoming motorcycle.
Tumwet said the motorcycle rider, Joseph Bibich, aged 37 years, a driver deployed at the Pokot Central Deputy County Commissioner’s (DCC) Office died on the spot, while his colleague pillion passenger, Eric Pyego Molo aged 36 years, was rushed to Kapenguria County Referral Hospital in serious condition but was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.
“According to eyewitnesses, the car was being driven at a high speed and was overtaking another vehicle at the sharp corner. The motor vehicle hit the oncoming motorcycle with a lot of impact throwing the two off the road,” said the County Commander.
He said the driver of the Nissan vehicle is at large after causing the accident and police officers have launched a manhunt.

The police boss has urged road users to exercise caution while on the roads to avoid causing such careless accidents.
