Three people died after a Public Service Vehicle lost control and ploughed into a house at Metamanywa area in Masaba North Sub County in Nyamira County.
Six others including occupants of the house and passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby Keroka sub county hospital and got admitted.
Neighbours, Brenda Okero and Azenath Nyaboke, narrated how they heard a commotion outside only to find out that a vehicle had rammed into the house.
“The house’s occupants were crying for help before police rescued and rushed them
to hospital,” said an eye witness.
Masaba North police commander Robert Ndambiri confirmed the incident saying the ill-fated Nissan Matatu donned red ribbons to appear as if it was in a funeral procession.
Nambiri said the Kilgoris Sacco vehicle was heading to Keroka from Sotik when the accident occurred.
He urged passengers to report reckless PSV drivers to the police in a bid to avert such deaths.
Ndambiri warned drivers caught by the curfew hours against speeding and instead to park and wait for the official time to continue with their operations.
