Tana River County Women Representative Amina Dika has disbursed about Sh1.9million of the Affirmative Fund to over 250 students who are learning in Secondary schools within Tana River and those learning outside Tana River County.
Speaking Sunday at Bura Country Club during the disbursing of the funds under National Government Affirmative Fund (NGAFF) Ms Dika said over 100 students learning in secondary schools are benefiting and over 159 students learning in secondary schools outside Tana River County are going to benefit.
She said other students to benefit are those in Colleges and Universities saying, the NGAFF kitty has a total of about Sh3.6million but only the Sh1.9million has been received in Tana River County Women representative office.
The Women Representative also said the Fund was mainly targeting the most vulnerable students whose parents are poor, orphaned children and girls who are experiencing female genital mutilation challenges.
She said more students would be enrolled when more funds are received while encouraging those who have benefited to work hard in schools for their better future life.
