There was jubilation and dance as Abdi Noor clinched the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chairman Machakos Branch.
Noor who has won for the 2nd term as Chair of the Federation after elections that were held at the Muslim Township Primary in Machakos town, said he is elated for the win and plans to give back by improving football in Machakos.
He disclosed the trust the people have for him has made him win the election with 19 votes against Onesmus Wambua with 12 votes as he plans to improve and promote sports since it brings a sense of sportsmanship in the grassroots level for Machakos youth.
Noor who was speaking to the media after the elections in Machakos added that partnerships and sponsorship will help the youth to tap in their potential and turn Machakos into a football hub that will inspire the next generation.
He called upon major stakeholders and urged them to work together with the football fraternity to bring more changes and developments by investing in young players because the success of football is having a strong grass root structure.
He however decried some challenges such as transport for the players, paying of referees and sponsoring teams and noted that plans are underway to have a seat down with several stakeholders and sponsors and find a lasting solution.
Noor commended the Governor for supporting young talents through the Governor Wavinya cup tournament that has a grand prize of Ksh 1 million which is an enabler for the youth and has led to 12000 budding young players and 640 clubs gearing up to win the tournament.
