A total of 958 students to benefit from skills development programme

The County’s Department of Education, Sports, and Social Protection has announced that the second phase of the ‘Ujuzi Mashinani’ program targeting 958 students in Kalapata will commence in June 2024.

The first phase of the program was rolled out in Kaaleng-Kaikor earlier this year, benefitting up to 749 learners who are still undergoing several training programs to acquire practical vocational skills.

At a joint meeting between the Department and USAID NAWIRI, who are the main sponsors of the initiative, May 17, 2024, was proposed to be the program’s launch date and will be presided over by Governor Jeremiah Napotikan.

To support this program, USAID NAWIRI has invested up to Kshs 20 million in learning equipment and Kshs 10 million in fee payments.

The program aims to address youth unemployment by equipping them with relevant skills for entry into the job market or business ventures for self-sustenance.

The program relies on 30 master trainers offering instructions in eight disciplines.
