A teacher defiles four pupils

A  teacher at Rianjeru Boarding Primary School in Mbeere North has been arraigned in court for defiling four pupils.

Wilson Mitwe  who was arraigned in court last Monday is remanded at Embu GK Prison after failing to pay a cash bail of Sh. 200,000 and his case will be heard on February next year.

According  to  the Embu Director of Children, Davelyne  Mundi, Mitwe was defiling the learners at different dates while in school during prep time warning them not to reveal to anyone.

However one of the victims disclosed the ordeal to her teacher who reported the matter to department of children at Kiritiri and the accused was arrested and escorted to Kiritiri Police Station and investigation was commenced.

Mundi  said  after interrogating the victims who are three standard eight pupils and a standard seven pupil, his office is working closely with Embu level five hospital for counselling sessions for the girls who are traumatised.

From  investigations already done, Mundi said that the suspect is a habitual defiler and has urged the ministry of education to taken stern action against such teachers.

He promised to follow-up the case to the end to ensure justice is accorded to the victims and the culprit get his due though he lamented that the case has been taken too far.

“I appeal to the ministry of education to work closely with the children’s department to ensure our children have safe learning environment free from such sexual predators,” he noted.

The Children officer challenged parents close relatives, teachers and residents and learners to be reporting to the relevant authorities any case of sexual abuse or call through the toll line 116.

He also warned those with such behaviour which is rampant in Mbeere North that sexual offences attracts severe punishment.
