A mysterious disease has killed six people and five more are ill at Eshina village in Isukha West location of Kakamega County.
According to the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for health services Collins Ametemba, the victim exhibit swelling of the hands and genitalia and the first death occurred in January.
“What is surprising is that all the affected are men and that is why unscientific explanations such as witchcraft have been advanced as a probable cause,” he stated adding that the last two died late last month.
The County Executive Committee Member said the county has moved two patients to the County Referral Hospital for laboratory tests to establish the cause of the lethal ailment.
He appealed to the residents to stop speculating about the outbreak and wait for the laboratory results.
The disease has left the villagers in a shock as they do not know who would be the next casualty of the peculiar malaise.
