A liquor Vendor Kills Reveller Over unpaid Bill

A 55-year-old woman from Baringo North has been arrested by police for hacking to death a man after a disagreement over payment of liquor.

According to Nyumba Kumi Elder Isaac Kipsambo, Evelyne Kabon who hails from Barkoro village in Saimo Soi Kipsaraman ward committed the heinous act yesterday evening at around 5pm at her home where the 38-year-old man had gone to take the liquor.

Kipsambo claims that the mother of four picked up a machete and slashed the deceased several times after he failed to pay for the liquor.

“The lady used to knit clothes for a living but turned to busaa business because she needed to pay fees for the four children after the husband died,” he said.

He added that it was not the first time she is committing the offence since she once stabbed the husband’s second wife and was imprisoned for about six years before she was released.

The Nyumba kumi elder pointed out that the turn of events angered area residents who then descended upon her property razing down her four bedroomed timber house where she had also kept crude weapons like spears, bows and arrows.

Baringo North Sub County Police Commander Fredrick Odinga while confirming the incident said that the deceased died on the spot after sustaining injuries in the head, mouth and both legs.

Odinga said police have commenced investigations to unearth the exact cause of the scuffle.

He added that the body of the deceased was taken to Baringo County referral hospital mortuary where postmortem analysis is expected to be done.

At the same time, he called upon the members of the public not to take matters on their own hands instead seek advice whenever they are faced with social challenges in their families.
