A woman is in Ngong police custody for allegedly planning a robbery of her women group end year contributions amounting to Sh247, 000.
The women group based in Embulbul, Kajiado County was attacked Monday by three suspected gangsters, while they were holding their meeting.
According to an eye witness, the gangsters were armed with a pistol, a knife and a screwdriver.
An elderly lady who is the acting secretary of the group was stabbed in the arm and was rushed to Ngong Sub-County Hospital where she is receiving treatment.
The suspects took away several phones and cash before two members of the gang managed to escape while one of the gangsters was arrested after the women raised alarm.
The man was taken to Ngong police station where he claimed, one of the women group members had planned the robbery.
However, the group’s money was not stolen since the Treasurer of the group had not arrived at the time of the robbery.
According to Kajiado North OCPD, Joseph Mwika the suspects are being held in custody as the police carried out investigations into the matter.
“The suspects must give us leading links to the robbery incident to ensure that residents are safe during the festive season,” said Mwika.
