A four-year-old nursery school boy died Wednesday after being knocked down by a tourist van at Kanana junction, along Likoni-LungaLunga highway in Kwale County.
The boy identified as Peter Maundu, was on his way to school when he was hit by the vehicle killing him on the spot at around 7am, according to the area Deputy County Commissioner, Mr. Josephat Biwott.
“The deceased who was a pupil at Genesis Nursery School was crossing the road when the accident occurred,” said Biwott, adding that investigations had commenced.
This brings to three the number of motor accidents on the highway this month alone.
In the earlier two but separate incidents, two police officers died on the spot at Maganyakulo when the TukTuk they were travelling I collided with a Nissan Matatu, while 27 students were injured after their bus overturned at Mwangoi.
