A younger brother to Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi was last Friday stabbed to death by a close relative.
The deceased Joseph Wamalwa Wekesa (35), a resident of Buema village in Musikoma ward was severally stabbed with a kitchen knife on the chest by his nephew Nicholas Simiyu Wafula (30).
According to Bungoma South Police Station commander George Odongo the murder was reported by the brother to the deceased, Wafula Wamunyinyi, also the area MP.
He said a report was made to the effect that “ the tragic incident happened as the family was preparing for a memorial anniversary of his late dad Mathew Austin Wafula Wamunyinyi,”.
The two reportedly picked a quarrel the over an undisclosed issue before engaging in a vicious fight in which the deceased seriously wounded the suspect on the head and right hand thumb with a machete.
He said the bleeding suspect in fit of rage rushed for a kitchen knife pursued the deceased to his house where he stabbed the deceased on the chest.
“The enraged suspect also killed two dogs at the homestead before smashing all the window panes of the deceased’s house” he said.
Odongo said both the deceased and the suspect were rushed to hospital but the deceased succumbed to the knife injuries at around 0500hrs while undergoing treatment at Bungoma West Hospital.
He said the Suspect who was under police watch was admitted at Dawameds Hospital where medics confirmed that his condition was stable
The body was transferred to Life Care Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
