County engages in efforts to revamp Vocational institutions

Bomet County Government has contracted Siwot Vocational Training College in production of enforcement officers’ uniforms in line with renewed efforts to revamp institutions.

During a courtesy call to the institution, Education and Vocational Training Chief Officer Dr Kiprotich Keter said there was a need to revitalise the institutions in order to enable youths to acquire skills that would enable them to be self-employed.

Keter said the department had ensured that basic infrastructure and training equipment were available in the colleges. He said skills gained in the VTCs were of immense importance in the near future when white collar jobs seemed to dwindle day by day.

The CO encouraged those who attained low grades in their secondary school examination not to lose hope but to join the VTCs as entry level as they seek to advance their education to desired levels.

He said Governor Prof Hillary Barchok had sought partnership with international colleges in order to enhance training in the 33 VTCs in the county, a move that would enable graduates compete in global job market.
