The Teachers Service Commissioner (TSC) has transferred teachers working along the common border with Somalia.
The move follows the Sunday morning attack by Al Shabaab militants in a remote village neighbouring Somalia.
Heavily armed militants injured two national police reservists and snatched their gains before stealing food stuffs from a warehouse in Hareri Hosle in Mandera East Sub County.
The TSC Director, Yusuf Abdullahi who spoke to the press in Mandera town said teachers were transferred from Sarohindi and Libahiya primary schools on security reasons.
He said the area has no police or AP camp but only two national police reservists manning the vast region.
“We cannot compromise the security of our teachers, but this is a temporary measure and once we are convinced there is enough security we will repost the tutors to their original schools, ” said Abdullahi.
In 2014 over 28 teachers traveling for December holidays were killed in Arabia in Mandera East by the Shabaab militants prompting mass exodus of their colleagues to schools in other counties.
