The chairman of the Association of Contactors in Nakuru County, Julius Njihia has appealed to real estate investors to utilise skilled labour and use standard construction materials besides following the National Construction Authority (NCA) regulations while electing houses as a matter of principle.
Mr Njihia who spoke in Nakuru town on Monday said investors should also engage contractors with a proven track record of building quality and safe structures.
The contractor noted that taking shortcuts, such as using substandard materials could lead to serious consequences for both the developer and the workers at sites since it leads to significant economic losses, and it puts people’s lives at risk.
Njihia noted that many of the collapsed buildings in the country have been attributed to shortcuts taken by developers and contractors and highlighted the need for more caution in the construction industry.
