Vihiga County Commissioner (CC) Gilbert Kitiyo has instructed Chiefs to be change agents in the community.
Kitiyo stated that the administrators are supposed to enlighten the people with the knowledge that would lead to the realization of socio-economic development.
He asked them to encourage the residents to engage in such activities as agriculture, livestock keeping and income generating ventures in order to uplift their living standards.
The administrator, who spoke while on a familiarisation tour in Emuhaya and Luanda sub counties, urged the National Government Administration officers (NGAOs) to cultivate a cordial working relationship with the people for effective exchange of information on various issues.
“Establishing a good relationship with the citizens would enable you to easily get information on criminals and other security related issues so that appropriate action can be taken,” he advised.
The CC called on the public officers from various departments to embrace team spirit so as to deliver their services efficiently and effectively.
He noted that the two sub counties are in the limelight for the rampant sale of illicit brews as well as bhang (cannabis sativa) and pledged to stamp out the menace.
The officer directed that monthly service delivery meetings be sustained so as to ensure that development projects are implemented within the set timelines.
