Uasin Gishu distributes 490 oxygen cylinders to health facilities

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has received and flagged off 490 Oxygen cylinders from the National government which were donated by Amref Partners, to be distributed to health facilities in counties.

Speaking while flagging off the consignment, County Secretary Edwin Bett, who represented Governor Jonathan Bii expressed gratefulness for the donations noting that there has been a crisis in the health facilities before, and therefore the initiative will go a long way in improving the delivery of health services in the County.

“Our people look up to us for the best services, and so our aim is to deliver responsive and quality health care,” he added. We are currently upgrading all our Sub County hospitals to ensure they have theatres and the cylinders will ensure we have enough oxygen for patients when required,” he added.

Chief Officer Preventive and Promotive Health Mrs. Joyce Sang together with her counterpart for Clinical Services Dr. Paul Wangwe expressed gratitude to the National Government and the Amref Partners for the support saying the cylinders will boost services in the health sector in the county.

Meanwhile, the county government is partnering with a foreign company, Weigao Medical International Company Ltd (WEGO), towards up scaling Kesses and Ziwa Sub County health facilities to level 5 hospitals.

Speaking when she hosted a delegation from Weigao Medical International Company Ltd (WEGO) Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health Mrs. Joyce Sang noted that there was a need to put up an automated nurse station in the facilities, as this will ensure quick nurses’ response to patients’ calls, for timely medical attention.

“We want a one-time response whereby a patient’s bed is connected with a bed call indicating the bed number and when he/she rings, the nurse immediately responds and the medication is offered immediately,” said Sang.

WEGO East Africa Managing Director Mr. Li Yuanguang said the organization was ready to work with Uasin Gishu, the first County government they have partnered with in equipping the facilities with quality medical equipment to assure better health services.
