Traders to give way for the renovation of Marikiti market

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua yesterday said that the traders who operate in Embu Marikiti market will be relocated to pave way for the construction of a Modern Market.

While inspecting the ongoing Government projects in Embu, the Deputy President said that the Government will ensure that traders are relocated smoothly.

Embu traders who operate from the market had initially expressed fears concerning the space that they will be relocated to.

The traders welcomed the assurance from the deputy president that the Government will ensure that they are relocated smoothly and that they will be moved to a spacious place within Embu town.

The DP said that the construction of the Embu modern market is set to commence soon and that it will be launched by President Dr. William Ruto.

“Traders who have been operating from this market will be given first priority by the Government when it comes to the allocation of the market by the Government” said the DP.

Governor Mbarire assured the traders at the market that they will be given first priority when the Government will be issuing out stalls at the market once the Government completes the project.

While inspecting the renovation of Moi Stadium, the deputy president expressed his confidence that the ongoing renovation of the stadium will be completed on time in order to host the June 1 Madaraka Day that will be held in Embu County.

The Government is also set to construct an ultra-modern sports city stadium with a capacity of 15,000 at Njukiri ASK Show ground whose construction will be launched on June 1 by President Dr. William Ruto.

Among other leaders who had accompanied the deputy president included, CS Ababu Namwamba, PS Raymond Omollo, Manyatta Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji and other county leaders.
