Over 1,000 Nanyuki residents had a rare Easter holiday treat after National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) organized a bash-cum-prayer day.
The ceremony which was held at Majengo chief’s camp, Nanyuki aimed at promoting community policing and celebrating with the less privileged members of the community during this Easter holiday.
Speaking in Nanyuki, Central Division Assistant County Commissioner Ms Mary Catherine Kirongo said that they chose to celebrate Easter with the residents as NGAO officers.
“We saw it was important to celebrate with residents because Jesus Christ has been crucified and its time of sharing the little we have and at the same time thank God for the rain,” said Ms Kirongo.
Pastor Joseph Kinyua from Four Square Church in Nanyuki said that Easter holiday is a time to reflect on how things are in the country and visit the underprivileged in the society and at the same time appealed for the leaders to reconcile for the country to progress.
“Our country has been faced with Covid-19 pandemic, drought and recent protests. My prayers are for our leaders to reconcile for our country to progress,” said Kinyua.
Nanyuki location Nyumba Kumi initiative chairperson Mr. Paul Gituthu said that it was a good opportunity for the residents to celebrate with the NGAO officers during Easter.
He appealed to the government to develop youth-led activities to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities.
The event was supported by corporate institutions in the region.
