The Technical Vocational and Education Training Directorate in Vihiga County has organized a music and drama festival competition to select the best performers.
The County Executive Committee (CECM) for Youth Affairs, Culture and Sports Meshack Onzere said the selected teams would represent the county at the national drama and film festival scheduled later this month in Mombasa County.
This year’s theme for the county competition is “fostering digital transformation through theatre and film.”
Onzere urged the winners to exhibit excellent performance to market the county as outstanding in the creative arts.
He also encouraged the trainees to embrace performing arts while in school as it is an area that could be exploited to earn a living.
The Acting Chief Officer (CO) for TVET Charles Avedi said they have factored co-curriculum activities in both the supplementary and 2023/2024 budgets to ensure adequate funding.
The drama and film festival will be held at Shimo La Tewa high school from 20th to 30th April 2023.
