Over 91, 000 Kenyans have registered for Huduma Namba in Westlands Sub-County, Nairobi County.
The Sub-County which has been targeting at least 12,600 people daily for registration has been receiving about 6,000 people per day.
Speaking to KNA Friday, area Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Westlands, Mawira Mungania said the mobilization and sensitization exercise conducted by his officers in the area occasioned the overwhelming turnout.
He said several corporate bodies in the area have been requesting for the registration exercise be conducted in their offices, noting that the cooperation has seen company employees at Safaricom, Telkom Kenya, Bank of Africa and other banks being registered.
“We are currently doing door to door movement, where registration officers stay in a place for three days before moving to another location,” said Mungania.
The DCC however, cautioned people against seeking Huduma Namba registration from cyber cafes, saying that some unscrupulous business people have capitalized on wooing ignorant people, issuing them with registration forms at a fee.
“We are discouraging people from staying at home. We want them to go to the point of service where they can be guided by registration officers,” he stressed.
Mungania added that the exercise is being conducted by registration assistants, registration officers, ICT Officers and the national registration bureau officers who are supervising the exercise.
