Muthambi Sub-County Holds First Drama Festivals

As the Co-Curriculum activities resume in secondary and primary schools after the Covid-19 pandemic, Muthambi Girls’ High School was privileged to host the first drama festivals of the newly created Muthambi Sub County in Tharaka Nithi County.

Appreciating the opportunity to host the event, Muthambi-Sub County Director of Education, Mr. George Nderitu disclosed that the girls’ school will go into the history books as the school that was privileged to host the drama festivals at the Muthambi sub-county level for the first time.

“I am very happy to see that great talents are being produced by our students that will enable them to fill the space in the theatre and the film industries,” said Nderitu.

The Sub-County Director challenged those participating in the drama festivals to work hard in trying to bring out the theme, this year’s theme being ‘Fostering digital transformation through theatre and film’ to enable them proceed to the next level.

He commended all the participants for their discipline and the extemporary performance but reminded the students that during this season, they should not forget to put similar efforts in academics as they are excelling during the drama festivals.

This comes shortly after the Ministry of Education has outlined the school calendar allowing the students have time to carry out different activities such as drama festivals, athletics, football games as well as music festivals.

Unveiling the calendar in Mid- February, Tharaka Nithi County Director of Education Ms. Bridget Wambua said that since Covid-19 era is over, the schools are now back in the normal academic year.

“We are in the first term of the academic year and we shall have co-curriculum activities. We have given out the calendar to all schools,” Wambua disclosed adding that these co-curriculum activities will begin from the sub-county level, go to the county level, to the regional level and up to the national level.

“I urge the students and the teachers to prepare well for the first term curricular activities and call on the parents to allow their children to participate in various activities because these are so important to a student for mind relaxation from books,” the CDE said.

She further elaborated that the world is going into an era where if a child is interested in any activity like games, music, or any kind of art, he or she will focus on their talent field. Wambua said.
