Police officers in Rachuonyo East Sub County have launched investigations into the death of a 31 year old motorcyclist suspected to have committed suicide last Tuesday in Kadie village of Kawuor location, Homa Bay County.
The deceased who was identified as Erick Ooko allegedly consumed two bottles of pesticide after failing to reconcile with his wife on her date of return after she went to her maternal home in Kadem of Migori County during the Easter break.
The deceased called his wife severally but she declined to pick his calls which prompted him to lock himself in the house and took the pesticide.
Confirming the incident to KNA, Kawuor location Chief Samuel Okoko said the body of the deceased was found lying dead on his bed after his relatives had broken the doors of his house.
Okoko said that the deceased allegedly arrived at his home yesterday evening before having a chat with his father, where he told him that he had sent her wife money for transport, after that he went to his house and locked himself inside.
The chief added that his sister-in-law became suspicious when he never woke up in the morning, prompting them to break into his house.
He said that the deceased was oozing a foamy liquid from his mouth and there were two empty bottles of farm chemical which the deceased is suspected to have consumed.
The administrator however added that the motive of the suicide had not been established as the deceased did not leave behind a suicide note besides having a photograph of his wife in his pocket.
He appealed to married couples to look for better ways of solving domestic woes instead of resorting to hanging.
The body was taken to Rachuonyo Sub-County hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
