Bondo residents have unanimously endorsed Siaya County government’s plan to elevate the status of that town to a municipality.

Speaking during a public participation exercise that was held at the Bondo CDF hall in Bondo town, the residents led by John Garang’ welcomed the proposal saying that it will greatly help in enhancing development across the region.

They added that the coming of the municipality in the region will also create employment opportunities for the youths, noting therefore that the process should be hastened even more.

Siaya County Assembly’s chairman of the Land and Physical Planning committee Mr. James Obiero Otare assured the residents that the elevation of Bondo town into a municipal status will not be a financial burden to the residents.

While stating that the elevation of Bondo town statues will attract donor funding, he noted that all the planning within the municipality will be done only after proper consultations with the residents through public participation exercises.
