Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Wednesdays kicked off a land repossession exercise in the County and put grabbers on notice.
This followed recommendations by a task force that was appointed by the Governor whose mandate was to investigate cases of land grabbing in the County.
Governor Natembeya led a team of county officials in repossession of a parcel of land adjacent to the County headquarters in Kitale town.
“We are putting on notice all land thieves to get out of government land. A section of land on which the County headquarters sits was grabbed. Shame, shame and shame on all land grabbers,” remarked Natembeya.
Among other pieces of land recovered yesterday was a 10 acre Sikh Union land and a grabbed pathway land in Kananachi B in Kiminini Sub County.
According to the Governor, his administration has proposed construction of affordable housing units at the repossessed Sikh Union site.
Thereafter, the County boss led the high-powered team to the recovery of land initially meant for Cattle dip at Big Area in Kiminini Sub County.
The County boss ordered cleaning of all cattle dips in the County, revealing the devolved unit would soon supply them with acaricides.
He assured the locals of his determination to ensure all grabbed pieces of public land were repossession and secured with authentic title deeds.
The Governor was accompanied by his deputy Dr Philemonah Binea Kapkory, County Secretary Madam Truphosa Irene Amere who led CECM’s, Chief Officers, Chief of Staff and members of the land task force.
