Twenty-five bright but needy students from Alego / Usonga constituency will have their education funded by the area Constituency Development Fund.
Local CDF chairman George Odede said the fund, under the patronage of the Alego / Usonga Member of Parliament Mr. Samuel Atandi has already dispatched a total of Sh1.7 million to enable the students join Form One.
Speaking during a ceremony to see off the beneficiaries who have been selected to join national and extra county schools, Odede said the beneficiaries were selected through a rigorous process that ensured that only the very needy cases were selected.
“We applied the strict process adopted by other bursary schemes such as the Wings to Fly, Elimu Scholarship programme and the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation to identify the beneficiaries,” said the chairman.
The chairman said that the number of needy families in the constituency was too high and called for the expansion of the kitty. He advised the beneficiaries of the programme to be disciplined and focused in their studies, adding that they are expected to excel in their studies.
