We are ready for junior secondary, education officials say

At least 99 percent of primary schools in Laikipia West Sub County have met the required threshold to host junior secondary, education officials have said.

According to Nyahururu Sub-County Director of Education Samson M’burugu, at least 99 percent of both public and private schools have been assessed and approved ahead of the rollout of junior secondary next week.

He said that already 52 public primary schools and 11 private schools have been approved to host the pioneer learners of Grade Seven.

Equally, he noted that an extra 12 private schools have been approved as feeder schools in the region.

Feeder schools he said are schools with less than 50 pupils and within a radius of 2.2 Kilometres from the main schools.

“We have been inspecting the schools and a majority of those that have met the guideline and the required standards have been given a nod,” said Mburugu.

He said the approved learning met the required threshold of having science laboratories and other essential facilities.

While assuring parents that the government was ready for the rollout, he noted that education officials have been working tirelessly to ensure a 100 percent transition to junior secondary.
