Meru high court to dispose off over 250 pending cases  

The high court in Meru is set to dispose off a total of 252 pending cases during the ongoing judiciary service week.

The service week which started on January 16, ends on January 27 and is expected to expedite the hearing of backlog cases so that justice is served to the residents.

To speed up the exercise, the judiciary has deployed Justice Sharif Mwanaisha Saida to the high court who started working on the cases on Monday this week.

Justice Saida is expected to hear and determine matters pending at the court that include succession cases, criminal and civil appeals, hearing of applications, and other cases pending at the High Court.

Ms. Lucy Karimi, a staffer at the Meru Law courts who spoke on behalf of the Meru Law Court Executive Officer said that the court has already screened, listed, and notified respective parties for hearing of the cases.

She said this will ensure that pending cases shall be heard and finalized in the shortest time possible and as per the expectations of the judiciary.

“We are optimistic that the judge will manage to hear and determine all the cases within this period in order to serve justice to those involved,” said Ms. Karimi who also called on the residents to cooperate with the judge in order to expedite the process.

Ms.. Karimi also emphasized the importance of the service week stating that it will see to it that long-standing cases will be heard and determined.

She said the cases will be heard at the High Court adding that the Judiciary is committed to ensuring all the cases are disposed to enhance justice.
