A 61-year-old man, Sebastian Matundura was on Wednesday arraigned in a Kisii Law Court for allegedly killing his son.
Appearing before Magistrate Paul Muita, Matundura who pleaded guilty to the charge was directed to be remanded for seven days to give the prosecution time to finalize investigations into the case.
“The accused will be detained at Gesonso Police station for seven days pending the conclusion of investigations,” directed Magistrate Muita.
Matundura is said to have hacked his stepson, Peter Bogecho to death at Igonga sub-location in Kisii South Sub County following a family tussle.
Realizing the sudden turn of events, the accused notified his neighbour about the incident.
Matundura later surrendered himself at Gensonso Police station on Monday, according to Kisii South Sub County Police Commander Charles Machinji.
The police report indicates that Matundura confessed to fighting with his 30-year-old stepson on Sunday night, during which he struck the deceased with a jembe on the head and afterwards stabbed him.
The case is scheduled for mention on January 19, 2023 for further directions.
