The General Secretary of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Ms Veronica Maina has assured that the party is geared to conduct free and credible grassroots elections.
Maina who spoke in Kandara said in a short period they will release a schedule on how and venues where the grassroots elections will be conducted. She noted that through credible elections, the party will remain the strongest in the country.
“Our aim is to make UDA the strongest party and ensure it lasts beyond the 2027 General Elections. This can be attained through conducting credible and democratic elections,” she added.
Maina said, “As we plan for the elections which will be done soon, we will take into consideration all factors to bring in the interests of various groups in the society. Every group including persons with disabilities, youth, gender, and the minority will be considered.”
The secretary appealed to members of the party to ensure the elections will be peaceful and without differences.
“UDA is a peaceful and a democratic party, we don’t want to witness fights and chaos during the grassroots elections. My appeal is every member should embrace democracy,” she added as she lauded residents of Kandara for electing a UDA candidate as their MP during the recently concluded by-elections.
Meanwhile, Maina challenged the party’s followers not to shy away to pinpoint anything which is not going well in the party. “Come out and say any problem you see in the political outfit so that we can correct it. We want to ensure every member feels to be part of the party,” she added.
