Administrator wants residents to prioritize key projects

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich has called on residents to propose projects which will have an impact on the economy in the ongoing public hearings on the third generation County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP).

Noting that the CIDP will guide development in the next five years, the governor                             appealed to residents to prioritize projects which will transform their lives.

The governor was addressing residents during celebrations to mark this year’s Jamhuri day celebrations in Kapsowar Marakwet West Sub County after the reading of the presidential speech by the county commissioner John Korir.

The governor expressed concern over the rising cases of drug abuse in the sub county and called on residents to work with the police and apprehend bhang peddlers so that legal action should be taken against them.

“Those selling bhang to our youth are the same as murderers as they are destroying their lives,” the governor said.

He added that all bars selling illegal alcohol and also selling the same to underage children will have their licenses revoked.
