Governor promises to revamp county business environment

Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok has hosted a delegation of the business community from the county to discuss ways to improve trade and commercial environment in the region.

Barchok noted that the business community in Bomet was an integral part that has boosted the gradual growth of the rural farming set-up town.

“The business community in Bomet town is an integral part of the growth and development of the town. It is from this town where almost every household living in the villages around it earns their daily bread,” explained Barchok.

The governor noted that due to the importance of businesses established in the town and within the county, his administration was working on policies to support the growth of these ventures to boost living standards.

“In this regard, we are exploring ways to provide a conducive working environment for even the smallest of businesses in this town, to thrive and make the lives of our people better,” insisted Barchok.

Issues the Bomet business community presented to the governor touched on parking spaces provision, land rates, revenue collection and waste management.

The governor noted that he was aware of the challenges and his administration has established a framework to address the same.

“To achieve this, my administration is addressing a number of issues that have been a hindrance to those doing business in Bomet,” he said adding, “We are working round the clock to ensure that we fix the same, in the shortest time possible,” Barchok Promised.
