Preparations to mark the country’s 58th Jamhuri day celebrations at the sub county level are complete ahead of the day.
Speaking at Ciumbu market in Makuyu where the celebrations for Murang’a South sub county will be held on Wednesday, the Assistant County Commissioner Alex Wainaina who is also the chairperson of the planning committee confirmed that the preparations are complete.
“We are ready as Murang’a south to host the first Jamhuri day in the new administration as we celebrate and thank the Almighty for a peaceful transition and all the preparations are complete,” he said
“We expect to host over 600 people in this spacious Ciumbu market and require guests to be seated by 9am, Monday,” he added
The ACC further assured the residents of adequate security as the security personnel had been briefed and are well equipped to offer adequate security before, during and even after the celebrations.
The preparations come at a time when the president has revealed that unlike past celebrations where guests and Kenyans would converge for political speeches, his first Jamhuri Day will be marked with a special focus on technology and innovation.
This, he said, is part of his efforts to fulfil the campaign promises of a digital superhighway, to make sure that young people across the country have access to the internet and have devices that can help them connect to the job market.
