A 13-year old grade six Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) candidate on Monday wrote her first paper in maternity after delivering a baby early morning.
Nandi County Commissioner Mr Herman Shambi who confirmed the incident said that the candidate delivered at Maraba Sub County hospital adding that as security team, they ensured that she was provided with security at the maternity ward to ensure she was safe to tackle her exams just like other candidates.
Shambi noted that other candidates in all centres within the County started their papers without any hiccups saying that they expect a smooth running during the entire exam period.
“Examinations in all the Six Sub Counties began smoothly except for the one KEPSEA candidate who had to write from a maternity ward. We have provided a safe environment for her to do her exams just like other candidates,” said Shambi.
The CC further sent a stern warning to any person whether student, parent or citizen found attempting or engaging in any malpractice pertaining to national exams that started today.
He urged area residents to give candidates humble time by avoiding anything that can distract them as they write their papers. The Exam period is a critical moment and therefore I urge all residents to ensure that you give candidates humble time to avoid distracting them while writing their papers,” he noted.
