Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has today supervised the opening of day one Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examination material for Kiambu.
The opening of the exam containers was conducted early at 6 am at the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Kiambu Sub- County offices by Linturi, flanked by DCC Titus Macharia, other education stakeholders.
While opening the containers, Linturi said that he expected order during the examination period. “We have enough security personnel in the examination centers in the County. We don’t except any malpractice during the 3-day period,” he said.
Linturi also exuded confidence of a good performance from all the students saying he hoped they would deliver incredible results.
“I want to wish all the candidates success in their examination. You have worked hard for the past 6 and 8 years and have been prepared well by teachers,” the CS reiterated.

Godfrey Mbaya, Green Cottage Academy Head teacher said that his pupils are fully prepared to seat for the exams and that they are all in good state. “We have received a good number of invigilators and we expect the exercise to run smoothly,” he said.
“We have 109 candidates in our school, we are hosting 16 KCPE candidates and 21 KPSEA candidates from Kiu Kenda PCEA School. We expect that our candidates will improve in Performance from last year’s despite them losing almost two weeks during election period,” he noted however adding that they managed to recover the lost time.
KPSEA will replace the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education under the new Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) and this will be the first Grade Six learners to sit for their exams.
Grade Six learners will today start with a mathematics paper followed by English, on Tuesday they will sit for Integrated Science and Kiswahili and on Wednesday they will finish the exams with Creative Arts and Social Studies.
Class Eight candidates will today start with mathematics followed by English Language and composition, on Tuesday they will take Science, Kiswahili and Insha and thereafter they will finish with Social Studies and Religious Education on Wednesday.
Nationally, a total of 2.5 million candidates are sitting for the exams today, 1,244,188 KCPE candidates and 1,287,597 are KPSEA candidates.
