Elgeyo Marakwet Governor, Wisley Rotich has pledged to allocate Sh15 million for the installation of x-ray equipment at Tot sub county hospital in Marakwet East.
Speaking during a tour of Endo ward, Marakwet East Sub County, the Governor said as a way of improving services to the people the county will equip the facility with basic diagnostic equipment, x-ray machines and other improvements to the tune of Sh15 million.
Kaptarakwa sub county hospital will also benefit from the funds as a way of taking services closer to the people.
Tot sub county hospital is also one of the facilities that will be used by the students of the Tot Kenya Medical and Training College (KMTC) that is currently under construction by NG-CDF Marakwet East.
Governor Rotich gave an affirmation that his administration will ensure a continuous improvement and upgrading of the facility to serve the residents well and to give the students a viable environment for practical learning.
He also assured residents of Soko Bora of a weekly market and livestock sale yards to be opened immediately with the guidance of the trade department which will promote trade between communities in the region and enhance peace building.
“I am happy with the peace experienced in the region and in the commitments of both the Marakwet and Pokot communities in maintaining it,” said the Governor.
Rotich also encouraged them to grow cash crops as a way of elevating their living standards given that banditry in the region has come to a stop.
