Police in Bungoma are investigating an incident where a police officer offering security services in the Kenya drama and film festivals at Kibabii University collapsed and died on the spot Friday morning.
Confirming the incident Bungoma South police commander, Wilson Nanga said a young female police officer collapsed and died at 5.30am Friday at Kibabii University compound.
Nanga said it was reported that the deceased had locked herself in a Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development vehicle registration number KZX 045 lit a mosquito coil and stayed there for quite some time.
He said “when the officer probably began feeling dizzy,” she decided to get some fresh air and as she got out of the car suddenly collapsed at the pavement.
Nanga added that his colleagues confirmed that they had not noted any problem with her the previous day and that she had been well.
The commander said investigations were ongoing to find out the real cause of the sudden death saying they were not quite sure whether the officer had any health issues or she had done anything that would have caused her death.
He said the body had been removed to Bungoma County Referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
