Confusion over WhatsApp Outage

Billions of popular WhatsApp social media application users across the world went without the services for the better part of the morning after operations went down.

Users told KNA that the APP went out of service at around 10 am affecting the communications between billions of users globally.

“The service started experiencing technical hitches as from 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 2022 as we were unable to send or receive texts, audio or video calls,” Naftali Omanga, an affected user told reporters in Nairobi.

He said whenever he attempted to use WhatsApp web, the response directed the user to verify internet connectivity even when the signals were available indicating there was a gross error in the systems.

According to Josh Breckman, spokesperson of Meta, the company that hosts the WhatsApp platform, the hitch was detected and technical team was working round the clock to fix it within the shortest time possible.

“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,” he was quoted in an interview with New York Times.

Kenyans took to twitter to raise their concerns as confusion reigned during the WhatsApp blackout

At least five billion users across the world have subscribed to the popular APP a major platform for exchanging messages and images in mass on a click of a button.
