Baringo Assembly to vet deputy governor nominee Felix Kipngok

Baringo County Assembly Speaker Vincent Kemboi has said that the third house will embark on the vetting process of Eng Felix Kiplagat Kipngok after his name was forwarded for approval by Governor Benjamin Cheboi.

Kemboi said that the name of Eng Kiplagat who is the eldest son of the late Deputy Governor Charles Kipngok was tabled Thursday afternoon by majority party leader Lawi Kipchumba and has subsequently been committed to a committee on appointment which will spearhead the 14 days vetting process.

The speaker said that during the period, the committee will conduct open sittings for members of the public before inviting the designate deputy governor to face the panel and thereafter present a report which will be deliberated by the 45 members of County Assembly (MCAs).

“We are encouraging our residents to make use of the available channels and present comments or approvals during the two weeks’ period because it is their right to do so,” he said.

Mochongoi Ward MCA Nicholas Kimosop in a rejoinder said the assembly was prepared to either approve or reject the nominee in the office which became vacant following the sudden death of Deputy Governor a month ago after he developed breathing problems at JKIA while enroute to Mombasa for the governors’ induction meeting.

Kimosop who is also the Assembly Deputy Speaker said that he expects that the nomination would be followed by naming of other vacant positions like county executive committee members and chief officers in order to assist the governor in achieving his development agenda.
