“It did come to our attention that last year and the previous year students in Kiambu did not perform very well. Reason being a lot of factors that include attitudes and culture and issues such as depression and drugs”, Njuguna said.

He added that as teachers they saw the need to make a great people out of the students by carrying out mentorship programmes and motivation exercises to make them see how important education was.

Under a coverage of about ten schools in 2022 the initiative has seen positive growth and feedback from students and schools.

Kasirini Secondary School Principal Teresia Njeri Njoroge acknowledged the much help the mentorship programme has helped especially in her current class of Form Four and much hope of great performance.

“If there is a class I have much hope for, it is this class of 2022. And I believe that they are equal to the task and that they have the potential to perform well in their upcoming exams.” She said.

A devoted Christian and a Geography and CRE teacher, Njoroge appreciated the Kiambu Mentorship Program and KCB bank for the opportunity and commended her students for the hard work

The thirst to provide hope comes a long way through dedication and kindness and a well-wisher and mother of one of the students in the schools Marion Njeri commended the initiative saying what KCB and the mentorship group was doing to support the students both mental and through material support is all towards building a great nation.

“It is good to encourage students and building a much stronger motivation to them to continue their pursuit in education”, Njeri said

Njeri urged more sponsors to come on board to encourage the students and give them hope for the future, saying that they can actually achieve the best with motivation.

“Some come from underprivileged areas and this will definitely give them hope anyone can come onboard because there is nothing like too little because it can assist in one way or another.” Njeri said.

During the event that involved planting of trees, the students were issued with rulers, geometrical sets, mathematical tables, files and calculators.
