BBW initiative to hold world’s biggest book sale

Malaysian book fair Big Bad Wolf (BBW) initiative is set to hold World’s biggest book sale from October 11 to 23 at the Sarit Expo Centre offering amazing quality books with discounts of up to 80 percent of the recommended retail price.

The book fair will be the largest in the country’s history with over 500,000 English books on sale. The doors open from 10am to 10pm and entry is free.

Speaking at the event, Big Bad Wolf Books Co-founder, Andrew Yap said that this is a massive opportunity for all avid book readers, writers and publishers to engage and exchange ideas through their favourite books.

“Our initiative always engages local publishers everywhere we go and Kenya will be no different,” said Yap. “Twenty percent of our space will be given to local publishers, but they will also be required to sell at discounted prices,” he added.

Yap said that the primary mission of Big Bad Wolf Books is to cultivate reading habits and build a new generation of readers by making books more affordable and accessible. “At the fair, we will have 15,000 titles available and over 500,000 brand new English books on offer,” Yap revealed.

He further disclosed that selling the books at discounted prices will encourage a culture of giveaways to the local libraries or exchanges among counterparts.

At the same time, Director of BBW Sharjah of the Sharjah Book Authority, organiser of the largest book fair in UAE, Mr Mohamed Noor stated that this Kenyan edition will have everything for everyone. Genres such as science fiction, literature, art, cookbooks, children’s books and many others to suit and serve everyone’s taste buds.
