The incoming Turkana County Executive Member (CEC) for Health and Sanitation Mr. George Emoru has assured the top health officials that he will work closely with them to ensure that quality health services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
In the handover ceremony witnessed by Deputy County Secretary (DCS) Robert Loyelei, the outgoing Health CEC Jane Ajele gave an overview of the department’s flagship projects such as mortuary and renal unit, establishment of seven sub-county hospitals and increasing the number of health facilities as well as healthcare workers.
The DCS said that transfers are normal government procedures as it enhances one’s knowledge and skills, and service delivery.
Ajele also pointed out the opportunities such as further equipping and staffing of the sub-county hospitals to offer more services in order to reduce the referrals to Lodwar County Referral Hospital (LCRH).
The Chief Officer for health, Dr. Malcolm Lochodo, appreciated CEC Ajele’s guidance on matters on health and welcomed the incoming CEC.
In his remarks, Emoru wished Ajele well in her new assignment as the new CEC for Trade, Gender and Youth Affairs.
Others in attendance included the Director of Medical Services Dr. Gilchrist Lokoel, Preventive and Promotive Director Dr. Bonventre Ameyo, Director of LCRH Dr. Bonventre Ameyo, Ag. Director of Global Health and Partnerships Dr. Bonventre Ameyo, Director of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Alfred Emanman and the Deputy Director of Alcohol and Substance Steven Kang’iro.
