Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi has pleaded with the President elect Dr William Samoei Ruto to help him deliver developmental projects including upgrading of Nyambene level 4 hospital to level 5 and constructing a male ward in the hospital.
Mr. Mwirigi said that Maua town is the second largest town in Meru County and therefore needs good infrastructure including roads and hospitals.
He asked Ruto to help him construct Kimongoro,Ntherone and Kiliili roads which connect to Katithiine of Tharaka Nithi County adding that neither president nor Governor has ever stepped in those pathetic roads.
The MP who is highly credited on his remarkable performance especially in the education sector, said that his administration will make sure that the Chuka campus Igembe branch is fully chartered and gazetted.
Mwirigi was speaking on Sunday during an interdenominational thanksgiving service at Maua stadium which was organised by the Maua Pastors fellowship.
The MP who hosted the President elect said that he believes in the administration of Dr Ruto and he has no doubt in accomplishing his developmental agenda in the area.
During the service, Dr Ruto said he will announce new fertilizer prices next week after having consultation with various stakeholders to at least boost the agricultural sector which is the backbone of the economy.
“I already have talks with the ministry of agriculture officials so that we can be able to work on the new prices of maize flour and I will announce the new fertilizer prices next week,” Ruto said.
The president elect who will be sworn in on Tuesday was flanked by his deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, Meru County Senator who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Senate Kathuri Murungi among other dignitaries.
On issues of the Meru green gold (miraa), Ruto assured to cut off all cartels frustrating farmers and traders in his administration. He added that he has scheduled a meeting with the Somali President this week to hold discussion on exportation of miraa which is the main cash crop in the area.
“I have a meeting with the president of Somalia this week and we will discuss the miraa market,” he asserted, adding that he will seriously deal with cartels that are out to frustrate and scare the farmers.
Ruto also thanked the residents of Meru in general for having faith in him and overwhelming voting for him.
“I sincerely thank you for trusting and standing with us. Meru County ranked number four among the 47 counties who voted for us. We got almost four hundred thousand votes from Meru County,” he said.
The residents also expressed their joy and gratitude to the president elect for seeing it prudent to come for a thanksgiving service in Maua-Meru County saying that it is a golden opportunity to express their pleas to the president elect.
